Totten Residence - Project Overview

The clients had a beautiful wooded property but could not enjoy their outdoor space. There were drainage issues, a front porch that was flawed by design, steps that were sunken and not of proper height, and an outdated swimming pool.

After a new swimming pool was installed the back side steps were removed along with the bricks on the back porch. New steps were poured with proper step height at both of these locations, showcasing a new design. These areas, as well as around the pool, were finished using Vintage Walnut Travertine and Walnut Travertine Bullnose on the steps and edges.

By backfilling the sloping yard with 120 tons of Special 8 stone, an extended patio was then created continuing the theme of Vintage Walnut Travertine. After completion of the patio, a firepit was built using EW Gold Random Drywall with a gas log lighter. The grill area and bar were installed using EW Gold Veneer Stone along with gas and electric. The granite counter tops were chosen by clients.

To achieve the sunken hot tub desired by the clients, a concrete pad was poured and a concrete block wall surround was built. The Vintage Walnut Travertine was continued over to the hot tub edge. Landscape plantings were installed to complete the back yard makeover.

The clients also wanted to carry their new look to the front of the house. The old stone walk and porch bricks were removed. A new sidewalk was designed and new steps were poured and finished in Vintage Gold Walnut Travertine to continue the back hardscaping into the front.

Completion of the project achieved a welcoming front entrance and a backyard entertainment oasis that the clients will enjoy for years to come.
